the bryson groupGuitarist Wally Bryson was a member of the Raspberries and helped write his band's biggest hit, "Go All the Way."  The band released four albums in the early Seventies before breaking up in 1975.  Those records are now regarded as early examples of "power pop," mixing the melodic sense of the Beatles, the intensity of the Who, and the summery harmonies of the Beach Boys.  His son, Jesse Bryson, has forged a music career all his own, showcasing his excellent singing with a knack for writing hook-laden melodies.  The father / son duo have teamed up to form the Bryson Group.  Icon Fetch talks to them about both of their unique musical paths, and also the impact that John Lennon had on both of their careers.

Eric Carmen wrote Go All The Way. Mr. Bryson, did not.

Hi J,

Thanks for the comment. I understand that there is some controversy over who penned "Go All the Way." My original Raspberries LP from 1972 credits "E. Carmen / W. Bryson" as co-writers. However, the original 45 single of "Go All the Way" lists Carmen as sole writer.

If Eric wants to come on the show, I'd gladly talk to him as well.

Eric definitely wrote the song but Wally did add a little seasoning to it. I'm sure it still would have been a great song without Wally's contribution but when the two of them were "on" they kicked some major rock n roll ass! Hope they strap on that guitar one more time and that the party isn't over!
