smile sessions cd coverThe Beach Boys' SMiLE Sessions box is out now.  Co-producers Mark Linett and Alan Boyd return to Icon Fetch to answer some of the questions you have - including what happened to the background vocals on "Barnyard," what, if any, songs Brian Wilson nixed from the album, why there isn't a stereo mix of "Good  Vibrations," and how they assembled "Heroes and Villains part two."  Listen to part one of the interview:

Gentlemen - Kudos to you both; a superb job well done.
Questions: I was surprised to read that Dennis Wilson's Truck Drivin' Man chant on the Cabin Essence chorus was recorded in 1968. I was wondering if it was an option on your part to isolate this vocal so that it can be heard clearly? Also, what role was He Gives Speeches to play in the Smile LP? Was it a stand alone module or intended for a certain place in the running order?

Thank you both, from the bottom of my heart, for your work on the SMiLE box set. Mark, thank you also for what is now the 2nd best box set ever, the PET SOUNDS Sessions. Both are truly re-marklable.

I'm wondering if there are any plans at all to issue a Vol. 2 Box Set of the Beach Boys singles. 1965-1967 maybe?

Thank you
